Magnet Assembly Fixture

Arnold Magnetics Internship 2016

At the end of my 6 month internship, I designed a fixture to make one of the magnet assembly processes safer for the operator and less likely to damage the magnets.

The previous process involved sliding two magnets together against a v-shaped tool by hand.  If an operator lost hold of the magnets, they could flip and crack together, damaging the magnets and potentially hurting the operator.

This new fixture got the operator's fingers away from the magnets (shown in red on the renders).  The operator could secure each magnet to one of the clamps, apply glue to the magnets, and slide them together one at a time using the knobs above the clamps.
